The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, has urged members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) to remain steadfast in supporting, encouraging and praying for their spouses in the discharge of their duties.
Dr. Shaibu made the call when she received the leader of NASWA, popularly known as Mama NASWA, Mrs. Kudirat Ibrahim, alongside members of her delegation during a courtesy visit to the NAOWA National Secretariat in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Liaison Officer, NAOWA, Capt. Jemila Jimoh, the NAOWA President, fondly referred to as “Mama Continuity,” reaffirmed the association’s leadership role in guiding NASWA towards achieving shared goals centred on welfare, unity and impactful service within military communities.
She emphasised that the strength and stability of military families largely depend on the unwavering support provided by spouses on the home front, noting that such backing remains critical to the effectiveness of personnel engaged in national service.
The NAOWA President also called for unity and cooperation among NASWA members, stressing that collective effort is essential for growth and the successful implementation of meaningful initiatives. She described encouragement and prayers as powerful tools needed to sustain military personnel, particularly in the face of demanding responsibilities.
Earlier, Mrs. Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded her team and commended NAOWA’s leadership and mentorship in shaping NASWA’s direction. She explained that the visit was aimed at reaffirming NASWA’s loyalty and strengthening its commitment to mutual support among members, as well as promoting a peaceful and stable home front under the umbrella of NAOWA.
The visit ended on a note of renewed unity and shared purpose, with both groups reaffirming their commitment to building stronger families and a more resilient military community.
Highlights of the event included goodwill messages and advice from wives of senior officers, signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
