The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a major operational success in Katsina State following a precision air strike that destroyed a notorious terrorist hideout linked to a suspected kingpin, Abasu Aiki.
The strike, carried out on May 1, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, targeted a terrorist enclave located within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area. The operation was executed based on sustained and credible intelligence reports indicating renewed terrorist activities in the area.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the targeted location was identified as a major logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki. The group has reportedly been responsible for a series of attacks on communities and security personnel across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis of the state.
According to the statement, NAF surveillance assets confirmed the presence of armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave. This prompted a swift and coordinated air strike that engaged both the terrorists and their support infrastructure.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralised, while the logistics base and associated structures were completely destroyed. The strike also triggered secondary explosions and extensive fires, indicating the presence of stored supplies and weapons within the facility.
Military authorities say the operation has significantly disrupted terrorist movement and supply chains in the area. They reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to eliminating terrorist strongholds, dismantling their operational networks, and supporting broader efforts to restore peace and security in the North-West region.
