Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded significant operational gains against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, neutralising insurgents, foiling attacks, arresting suspects and dismantling logistics networks across the North-East region.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the successes were achieved during sustained offensive operations conducted between March 31 and April 4, 2026.
In a major breakthrough, troops under Sector 2, deployed in Geidam, Yobe State, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), acted on credible intelligence to intercept terrorist logistics suppliers. During the operation, three terrorists were neutralised after a fierce exchange of fire, while a vehicle conveying supplies to insurgent camps was disabled. Items recovered included food supplies, mobile phones and other materials intended for terrorist use.
Similarly, troops successfully ambushed insurgents attempting to plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Konduga–Kawuri axis in Borno State. The encounter led to the neutralisation of two terrorists following an explosion triggered during the engagement. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
In a related development, troops conducting counter-IED operations discovered and safely detonated another explosive device planted along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, averting potential casualties and ensuring safe passage for commuters.
Operations in Adamawa State also yielded positive results. Troops under Sector 4, working alongside local hunters in Mubi North Local Government Area, arrested three suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP members. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had been involved in gathering intelligence on troop movements and had participated in recent attacks against security forces.
All arrested suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.
In another operation at Mainok market, troops apprehended three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered livestock, mobile phones and cash, further weakening the supply chain supporting insurgent activities.
Additionally, troops intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected terrorists in Yobe State. Two of the occupants were found with gunshot wounds believed to have been sustained during earlier encounters with security forces. The suspects, along with recovered communication devices, are in custody.
Further operations across the theatre also led to the arrest of several informants and collaborators attempting to move across locations, as well as the apprehension of a foreign national under suspicious circumstances at a checkpoint.
The statement noted that troops have continued to dominate the operational environment, effectively denying criminal elements freedom of movement. It added that all operations were conducted without incident, with troops maintaining high morale and combat efficiency.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance and professionalism, urging them to sustain the ongoing momentum in the overall security and economic interest of the North-East region.
