The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s determination to intensify air operations against insurgent and terrorist threats, pledging sustained, intelligence-driven action across all operational theatres.
Air Marshal Aneke gave the assurance during a strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs), described as a critical warfighting review forum aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and accelerating the restoration of peace nationwide.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the CAS said the meeting provided an opportunity to assess ongoing missions, address operational gaps, and align strategies with evolving security threats.
He emphasised that counter insurgency operations require speed, precision and continuous pressure on hostile elements, stressing the need for superior coordination, innovation and professionalism.
According to him, the Air Force will continue to deploy decisive airpower in support of ground troops and joint operations.
The CAS commended Air Component Commanders and their personnel for their courage, discipline and resilience under challenging combat conditions, noting that their efforts have contributed to measurable gains in degrading hostile networks and disrupting insurgent activities.
He observed that the achievements recorded so far reflect the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining a highly motivated and mission ready force capable of delivering operational results. He described personnel as the Service’s greatest asset, whose dedication continues to drive operational success.
However, Air Marshal Aneke cautioned that the security landscape remains dynamic and requires constant adaptation. He directed commanders to intensify intelligence led operations, strengthen inter-agency cooperation and leverage modern technology to stay ahead of emerging threats.
He also underscored the importance of standardised training, predictive maintenance and responsive logistics support as critical enablers of sustained air operations. The meeting featured detailed operational briefings and interactive sessions, with Branch Chiefs and senior officers contributing to a unified operational roadmap.
Reassuring Nigerians, the CAS said the Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in maintaining operational momentum while ensuring the protection of civilians, national assets and territorial integrity.
He reiterated the Service’s commitment to evolving its capabilities, strengthening partnerships and applying decisive airpower until lasting peace and stability are achieved across the country.
