The Minister of State for Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has called on stakeholders in Zamfara State to embrace unity and work collectively towards the state's development and progress.
Matawalle made the appeal on Wednesday while receiving members of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Zamfara State Chapter, who paid him an advocacy visit at his office in Abuja.
The minister commended the association for organizing what he described as a timely summit aimed at addressing critical issues affecting the state and its people.
According to him, the future of Zamfara depends on the dedication and commitment of its citizens to the service of the state.
“The future calls for dedication to the service of Zamfara State, to ensure that Zamfara becomes greater,” Matawalle said.
He stressed the need for stakeholders to set aside their differences and work together in the interest of the state and the nation.
“We must work together in all fields of human endeavour to make our dear state and our nation greater,” he added.
Earlier, the Chairman of AANI, Zamfara State Chapter, Muhammad Mujitaba Isah, said the visit was in recognition of Matawalle’s statesmanship and leadership credentials, both as a former governor of Zamfara State and a serving member of the Federal Executive Council.
Isah noted that the delegation sought the minister’s guidance and wealth of experience ahead of the association’s forthcoming summit scheduled for July 2026.
He explained that the summit would bring together political leaders, policymakers, academics, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders from across the state to deliberate on key challenges and opportunities relating to Zamfara’s people, economy, and security.
The meeting, according to participants, underscored the importance of dialogue, collaboration, and inclusive engagement in addressing the developmental and security concerns facing the state.
