Amazingly, the indefatigable Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Hon. Etta Lawrence Itanya, paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Calabar Golf Club alongside Hon. Ekpenyong Effiom Okon (Cross River State Commissioner); head of Golf activity at the (2nd edition) of 2026 Prince Otu Veterans Super League in Calabar.
The high profile meeting gathered stakeholders of the golfing community, led by the Chairman and Captain of the Calabar Golf Club, Brigadier General Ukeagu (Rtd), and former Military Administrator of Kwara State, His Excellency Colonel Pam Ogar (Rtd), as well as other distinguished members of the club.
Fascinatingly, receiving the guest from the Sports Commission delegation, Brigadier Enang Ukeagu expressed gratitude for the visit and appreciated the Cross River State Government for his immense contribution in sports growth across the eighteen local governments councils. He reaffirmed the club's readiness to partner with the Commission in ensuring a successful golf competition as part of the Prince Otu Veterans Super League 2026.
According to Hon. Etta Lawrence Itanya, while speaking, emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in delivering a world-class sporting event. He noted that the inclusion of golf in the Prince Otu Veterans Super League demonstrates the state's commitment to promoting inclusiveness and expanding opportunities for sports enthusiasts and veterans across Cross River State.
However, the deliberation from both parties was centered on logistics, participation, scheduling, facility readiness, and other critical areas necessary for hiccup-free golf competition. Also, stakeholders exchanged ideas and recommendations aimed at enhancing the quality of the tournament and ensuring unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.
Meanwhile, (Rtd) Colonel Pam Ogar, the (Former Military Administrator of Kwara State) lauded the initiative and encouraged sustained collaboration between the Sports Commission and sporting associations to further strengthen sports development and tourism in the state.
The engagement ended on a successful note, with all parties expressing confidence in the golf event and the overall objectives of the Prince Otu Veterans Super League 2026.
Football, Scrabble, Chess, Table Tennis, Snooker, Badminton, Arm Wrestling, Handball, Draft, and Golf is featured as participants must be Forty-Five Years and above. Besides, the competition that began a week ago will climax by June ending!
In summary, the Prince Otu Veterans Super League tagged "Harmonizing the People'' has continued to attract attention across the State, Nation also bringing together legendary Veterans, Ex-international sports Men and Women including notable Sport administrators, and stakeholders in a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, wellness, and culture integration.
