Troops of the 196 Amphibious Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a 50-year-old woman for allegedly supplying logistics and other materials to a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Mrs. Kellu Alhaji Abba, was reportedly arrested during a routine security check at the C Company Seven Platoon checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area of the state.
According to security sources, the arrest occurred at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday when troops intercepted the woman, a Kanuri indigene from the Lawanti area of Baga border town, allegedly attempting to move supplies into the bush.
The items were reportedly intended for her son, Modu Mustapha, who is suspected to be an insurgent operating within the Dumba general area.
Recovered items from the suspect include four ready-to-use high-nutrient supplementary food packs, two female hijabs allegedly used by insurgents as disguise, and a wristwatch.
Military authorities disclosed that Mrs. Abba is currently in the custody of the 196 Amphibious Battalion, where she is undergoing interrogation.
Sources further revealed that investigations are ongoing to establish the extent of the alleged support network and determine possible links to insurgent activities in the area.
The arrest is part of sustained counter-insurgency operations by Operation HADIN KAI aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics chains and dismantling support structures sustaining insurgency across the North-East.
Security analysts note that targeting supply routes and logistics networks remains a critical component of ongoing military efforts to weaken terrorist groups operating within the region.
