The Nigerian Navy has intensified efforts to boost operational efficiency and readiness following a strategic visit by the Chief of Logistics, Rear Admiral SH Abdullahi, to the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command in Lagos.
The visit, which forms part of an ongoing inspection tour of naval formations nationwide, is aimed at evaluating logistics systems and ensuring that critical support structures are aligned with the Service’s evolving operational demands.
Rear Admiral Abdullahi was received at the Command Headquarters by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha, who led a high-level delegation on an extensive tour of key operational and logistics facilities.
Central to the visit was the inspection of ongoing logistics projects, with particular emphasis on infrastructure development and supply chain mechanisms designed to sustain fleet readiness. The logistics chief also conducted on-the-spot assessments of installations, reviewing their capacity to deliver timely and effective support to personnel and operational units.
Speaking during the visit, Abdullahi underscored the critical role of logistics in naval operations, stressing that efficiency in equipment provision and maintenance remains indispensable to mission success. He noted that a responsive and well-structured logistics architecture would not only enhance operational output but also strengthen the Navy’s ability to tackle emerging maritime security challenges.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Mustapha commended the Chief of Logistics for his proactive leadership and steadfast commitment to reforming the Navy’s logistics framework. He described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that it would further energise ongoing efforts within the Command to uphold professionalism and operational excellence.
Mustapha reaffirmed that the Western Naval Command remains aligned with the broader strategic objectives of the Nigerian Navy, pledging sustained adherence to high standards in service delivery.
The visit is expected to enhance accountability and drive continuous improvement in logistics support, ultimately reinforcing the Navy’s readiness posture in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain.
