COAS, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu Joins Muslim Faithful for Eid El-Kabir Prayers in Abuja

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, joined senior military officers, personnel of the Nigerian Army, and Muslim faithful to observe this year’s Eid El-Kabir prayers at the Mogadishu Cantonment Parade Ground, Abuja.


The prayer session, which drew a large turnout of serving and retired senior officers, was attended by top military leadership including the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters; and heads of various Nigerian Army establishments.


Eid El-Kabir, which symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, faith, and devotion to Almighty Allah, provided an opportunity for reflection among worshippers on the values of selflessness, unity, and national service.


In his message, the COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, urged troops to remain steadfast in upholding the core values of discipline, loyalty, professionalism, and dedication to duty. 


Additional, He called on personnel to continue to demonstrate unwavering commitment to safeguarding peace, security, and the territorial integrity of Nigeria.


The occasion also reinforced the spirit of camaraderie within the military community, as officers and soldiers joined in prayers for national peace, stability, and continued success in ongoing security operations across the country.
