The action-packed and thrilling Four Days track and field event was held in the prestigious Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State; Nigeria witnessed remarkable records set by Bayelsa athletes.
However, the 29 man contingents would have done more if given adequate time to prepare before departing for the MTN grand finale. Despite a few weeks training, they've set an enviable standard with their individual brilliance and performances.
Among them is a unique sprinter and prodigy; Tejiri Godwin of Team Bayelsa who dipped a huge Personal Best of 10.29s in the Senior Men's 100m during the Semi's, which is the third fastest time in the competition.
Surprisingly, another sensational athlete from Egweama Community named; Faye Perfect sprinted 21.24s in the U-20 Junior Men's in the 200m therefore securing a ticket ahead of the World U20 Athletics Championship billed for Oregon, United State of America later this August; 2026.
In a similar faction, Faith Ezechukwu, impressively won Bronze medal after stunning 54:04 secs in the 400m Junior women finals event also, equally meeting up the World U-20 Junior qualifying time for Oregon competition.
Incredibly, Samson Teibowei ran a new Personal Best of 1:56:04s thereby winning second position in the finals of the 800m which qualify him to U-20 Junior Championship; while his teammate in Samkay Athletics Club, Mekioniso Messiah, leapt 6.95m in the Long-Jump event with a new Personal Best.
Elsewhere talented Ebikiemo Ikadoi, set a historical record with PB of 10.78s in the 100m race, running a sub-10 for the first time in any competition.
Meanwhile, quarter-miler Sisan Efejeku clinched third position during the 400m Senior Men's category with a new PB of 47:77s.
Eniola Oduntan of CCSS, Etegwe in the Junior's Girl's category, who was recently discovered in the Secondary School Athletics meet in Yenagoa leapt 1.50m in the Youth U17 female high-jump to win the Gold medal.
In the Junior U-20 Men high jump, Tywhite Izibeyakimini Deme, leapt 1:95 metres to win bronze, a new Personal Best to appear in his profile on the World Athletics site.
