The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its counter terrorism operations in Borno State, carrying out precision follow-up air strikes on terrorist hideouts in the Jilli axis as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent networks in the North East.
The operation, conducted by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted fleeing terrorists and regrouping elements attempting to exploit the challenging terrain after an earlier successful engagement that dealt a significant blow to their positions.
The follow up strikes formed part of a coordinated air-ground operation with the Nigerian Army, underscoring the growing synergy among security forces in the fight against terrorism. The mission was aimed at consolidating previous gains and preventing remnants of the insurgent groups from reorganising or launching fresh attacks.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the strikes were executed based on credible intelligence obtained through close collaboration with relevant stakeholders and subsequently validated by operational command authorities.
Ejodame noted that the sustained offensive demonstrates the increasing effectiveness of intelligence-driven joint operations in denying terrorists freedom of movement and degrading their operational capabilities.
He further explained that the mop-up strikes were deliberately carried out to neutralise residual threats and forestall potential attacks on both military positions and civilian communities within the area.
The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining persistent surveillance, precision targeting, and rapid response capabilities in support of national security objectives.
The Service also reassured residents of Borno State and the wider North-East region of the Armed Forces’ resolve to protect lives and property, while working towards restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.
