Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major operational success following a series of precision airstrikes that dismantled logistics networks of the Islamic State West Africa Province along the waterways of Lake Chad.
The operation, conducted during a night offensive around the Kaniram Island axis in northern Borno State, targeted terrorist supply and movement channels, dealing a significant blow to their operational capabilities.
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, the military disclosed that the strikes were carried out based on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) inputs.
According to the statement, air assets maintained sustained aerial surveillance and identified over 30 terrorist boats along with fighters coordinating logistics and resupply operations. Following careful target verification in line with established Rules of Engagement, the military launched coordinated precision strikes that destroyed several boats and disrupted the terrorists’ supply chain.
The offensive, supported by real-time ISR, enabled follow-up strikes on fleeing insurgents attempting to regroup within nearby vegetation, leading to the neutralisation of more than 30 terrorists. Survivors were seen retreating in disarray, indicating a collapse in their command structure.
In a related development, additional strikes were carried out at Sowolwolo in the Sambisa Forest, where three terrorist gun trucks were destroyed and several fighters neutralised after coordinated targeting with operational partners.
Battle Damage Assessment reports, supported by post-strike intelligence, confirmed heavy losses on the part of the insurgents. The military also cited evidence of mass burial activities by ISWAP elements in the Mallam Fatori axis, underscoring the scale of the damage inflicted.
Ground troops have since moved to exploit the gains, advancing into adjoining areas to prevent fleeing fighters from regrouping or re-establishing operational bases.
Military authorities noted that the operations demonstrate effective air–land integration and sustained offensive pressure aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and denying them freedom of action across the theatre.
The High Command commended troops for their performance and urged them to maintain the momentum in ongoing efforts to eliminate insurgent threats.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements until they are decisively defeated, as part of broader efforts to restore peace and stability in the North-East region.
