The National Para Games in Abuja gradually approaching its final days, competition across events continues to intensify, with states battling for top positions on the medal table.
Latest standings show Enugu leading the pack with an impressive 7 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal haul. Rivers follows in second place, while Edo and Bayelsa remain strong contenders in third and fourth positions respectively. Kwara, Abia, and Lagos are also within reach, as the race for medals tightens.
Several events have now concluded, including wheelchair basketball, where states such as Enugu, Bayelsa, and Jigawa secured podium finishes. Para table tennis has also wrapped up its events, paving the way for para volleyball to take centre stage.
Attention is also on amputee football, with the competition now heading into its finals, promising another thrilling showdown.
Beyond the competition, the Games have showcased elite talent, including para badminton star Mariam Eniola Bolaji, who recently achieved the feat of becoming world number one in the SL3 category.
At the same time, the events has recorded a notable rise in first-time participants, reflecting its core objective of discovering and nurturing new talent.
At the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the atmosphere remains competitive and spirited, as states continue to push for more podium finishes.
With the end of the Games drawing closer, the fight for medals has intensified, as athletes and teams aim to finish strong and secure their place among the nation’s best.
