The hospitable, energetic, culturally rich people of Bayelsa State in their capital Yenagoa City during the weekend enjoyed an unforgettable, overwhelming experience as they showed huge interest and participation in the historic 10km Marathon Race.
However, it's not just for a healthy purpose but to earn a living for some career and professionals while entertaining the South-South region with their perseverance and innate abilities.
Accordingly, all the winners have received their rewards while others gained physical fitness and accelerated quickly to run their daily activities in style. Besides, the Monthly 'Prosperity Walk' has enabled the citizens' towards a healthy living.
Speaking to the Press, Honorable Daniel Igali the (Bayelsa State Sport Commissioner) said, "Major cities in the World showcase their rich Sport heritage on their road during Marathons with amazing locations. That's why Cities like New York, London, Madrid, Lagos and Berlin do the same" he said.
Igali continued "In our case, it is a temporary, partial road use for just a couple of hours; we must tell our story and applaud the understanding of Bayelsa people and those who massively came to be featured'' he said.
While unfolded on its vibrant streets. Athletes from across Nigeria and beyond gathered in a thrilling display of strength, endurance, and determination at the Yenagoa City 10Km International Race.
Amazing performances recorded from the crack of the starting signal to the final strides across the finish line, the city pulsed with energy, unity, and sporting excellence. It was more than just a race, it was a statement.
The exercise has given room for athletes growth and development as Yenagoa is firmly on the global sporting map, showcasing its capacity to host World Class competitions and inspire the next generation of athletes.
Noticeably, under the dynamic leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Sports Development, United World Wrestling member; Daniel Baraladdie Igali; multiple National, Africa, Olympic and Commonwealth Gold Medalist, Bayelsans-Yenagoa is not just speaking the vision but living it matching words with action in its bold journey to becoming the sport hub of Nigeria and Africa.
