Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully foiled coordinated terrorist attacks on their positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.
The attempted assaults occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, when terrorists advanced in large numbers in an apparent bid to overrun military locations in Sector 2 at Azir Bridge and Sector 1 in Banki.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the troops responded swiftly to the attacks with strong resistance and superior tactical manoeuvres that disrupted the terrorists’ advance.
According to the statement, vigilant troops launched well-coordinated spoiling attacks that broke the terrorists’ assault formations, forcing them into disarray and preventing them from achieving their objective.
The operation was further supported by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which played a critical role in neutralising the attackers and ensuring the defence of the troops’ positions.
The statement noted that the failed attacks contradict misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online media platforms regarding the security situation in the area.
It emphasised that troops remain firmly in control of the affected locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale, sustained offensive operations and decisive firepower against terrorist elements.
Operation HADIN KAI also reassured members of the public of the Joint Task Force’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorist groups and restoring lasting peace and stability across the North-East region.
