The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on its Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) to intensify the use of digital tools to enhance innovation, efficiency and improved service delivery within the scheme.
The Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Kwaghe Joseph Vandi, made the call on Tuesday during a capacity-building workshop organised for LGIs in Abuja.
Vandi explained that the workshop reflects the NYSC’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for discipline, accountability and operational efficiency in the administration of corps members across the country.
According to him, in an era driven by digital transformation and data-based decision-making, the NYSC cannot afford to remain static amid rapid global technological advancement.
He noted that the introduction and expansion of initiatives such as the NYSC Integrated System (NIS), monthly biometric clearance and other ICT-driven platforms have significantly improved transparency, accountability and efficiency in the scheme’s operations.
“The success and sustainability of these innovations depend largely on our Local Government Inspectors,” Vandi said, stressing that their active engagement is crucial to the effective implementation of digital reforms within the organisation.
He further described the workshop as a strategic investment in human capital aimed at equipping participants with the digital skills and competencies required to navigate the modern NYSC ICT framework with confidence and efficiency.
Also speaking, the Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, Omotade Ayodele, urged the inspectors to uphold integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Ayodele reminded participants that as Local Government Inspectors, they are expected to embody the ideals of the NYSC at all times by demonstrating leadership, empathy and vision while serving as worthy ambassadors of the scheme in their respective duty posts.
Participants at the workshop included the State Coordinators for Benue and Nasarawa States, as well as Zonal and Local Government Inspectors drawn from both states.
The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts by the NYSC to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure more efficient service delivery through the effective adoption of technology.
