The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS), Bauchi, Major General Abubakar Ahmed, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous quality training of armoured personnel, while commending the resilience and operational successes of troops under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North-East.
Major General Ahmed gave the assurance during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai at the Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Commandant praised the Theatre Commander and troops for their unwavering dedication and perseverance in safeguarding lives and property in the region.
He also lauded the professionalism of the personnel and noted the prevailing calm in Maiduguri as a testament to the effectiveness of ongoing military operations.
Ahmed explained that the visit was aimed at reaffirming the support of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) and assessing the performance of armoured personnel deployed in the theatre. He noted that the exercise would enable the identification of operational gaps and facilitate necessary improvements in training and deployment.
The Commandant expressed satisfaction with the regular feedback received by the Armour School on the performance of its graduates in the field.
He further assured that adequate platforms would be provided, alongside the sustenance of a modular rotation system for armoured personnel supporting OPHK operations.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander of OPHK, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar, appreciated the Commandant for the consistent assessment visits and the high standard of training provided to armoured corps personnel. He underscored the critical role of NAAC personnel in the successes recorded by the operation and expressed pride in the performance of NAAS graduates.
Major General Abubakar also assured that adequate measures were in place to ensure proper maintenance of armoured platforms and the welfare of troops in the theatre.
The visit featured interactive engagements with senior officers, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph session.
