The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of the Nigerian Army to intensify relentless, proactive, and intelligence-driven operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the country.
The directive was issued on during his operational visit to troops of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and the 33 Artillery Brigade at Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS charged troops to sustain a high level of operational readiness and intensify ongoing efforts to decisively engage terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements within their areas of responsibility.
He noted that the persistent activities of these groups have continued to displace innocent citizens, stressing the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in affected communities nationwide.
Reinforcing his command philosophy, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu assured personnel that the Nigerian Army would continue to provide the necessary operational enablers and logistics required for the successful prosecution of ongoing operations.
He emphasized the importance of professionalism, tactical efficiency, and sustained operational pressure to deny criminal elements freedom of action and rebuild public confidence in security efforts.
The Army Chief also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of troops and their families, noting that a motivated and adequately supported force remains critical to achieving operational success. He disclosed that deliberate measures are being implemented to boost morale, enhance efficiency, and improve overall combat effectiveness.
As part of his visit, the COAS paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Suleiman Rilwanu, where he commended the traditional ruler’s continued support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
He further assured that ongoing military efforts are focused on eliminating banditry and all forms of criminality, while calling for sustained collaboration between security forces and host communities to achieve lasting peace.
