Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI, have repelled a terrorist attack, neutralised five insurgents and rescued three abducted children in a series of coordinated operations across the North-East theatre.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operations were conducted between February 20 and 21 as part of sustained offensive and stabilisation missions by the troops of Operation HADIN KAI.

According to the statement, troops of Sector 1, while on fighting patrol, made contact with suspected JAS/ISWAP terrorists around Sabsawa village in Borno State. The soldiers engaged the insurgents with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat in disarray. A follow-up exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of five terrorists.

In a related development, troops deployed at Ngurosoye rescued three abducted children Abba Abba (12), Fatima Abba (8), and Aisha Abba (6) during a perimeter patrol in the Bama Local Government Area of the state. Preliminary findings indicated that the children were kidnapped about two months ago along the Gubio axis by suspected terrorists before being moved to Bula-Daloye. The rescued minors have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further action.

The statement also disclosed that a 18-year-old suspected terrorist, Abubakar Abubakar, surrendered to troops at Geidam in Yobe State, where he is currently in custody undergoing profiling.

Across other sectors, troops maintained an aggressive operational posture, conducting coordinated offensives alongside hybrid forces, vigilantes and local hunters to deny terrorists freedom of movement. The military noted that the operations were largely hitch-free, while exploitation and surveillance activities remain ongoing throughout the theatre.

The military high command commended the troops for their high morale and combat efficiency, assuring that sustained pressure would be maintained on terrorist elements until lasting peace and economic stability were restored to the North-East region.
