The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has concluded investigations into allegations of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations involving sixteen officers, with the findings forwarded to the appropriate superior authorities in line with extant military procedures.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Sumaila Uba, said the comprehensive investigation conducted in accordance with established military regulations thoroughly examined the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel.
According to the statement, the probe identified a number of the officers as having allegations to answer, including claims of plotting to overthrow the government acts described as inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces.
Major General Uba said officers found to have a case to answer would be formally arraigned before the appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations, ensuring accountability while upholding fairness and due process.
The AFN emphasised that the actions being taken are strictly disciplinary and form part of its internal mechanisms to preserve order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks. It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority.
The Defence Headquarters had earlier, in October 2025, announced the arrest of the sixteen officers over alleged acts of indiscipline and violations of service regulations.
