The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 aircraft, which earlier made a precautionary landing during a ferry flight, has successfully continued its journey and landed safely in Banjul, The Gambia, en route to Portugal for scheduled depot maintenance.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the aircraft transited Accra, Ghana, in line with an updated flight plan before proceeding on its designated route through Casablanca to Portugal.
Ejodame explained that ferry flights for aircraft programmed for maintenance are conducted through designated airfields, with movements carefully spaced in strict adherence to established aviation safety procedures. He assured that all personnel on board are safe and that the aircraft remains fully serviceable.
The Nigerian Air Force expressed appreciation to the host authorities in Ghana, The Gambia, and other countries overflowing for the support extended to the crew. It also acknowledged the concern and goodwill shown by Nigerians.
The Service reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all its operations.
