The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reassured Nigerians that concerted efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining abducted students of St. Mary’s Catholic School, Agwara, in Niger State, alongside other citizens currently in captivity across the country.
This assurance was given as the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) provided an update on its operational activities conducted between nationwide.
In a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the DHQ said the military remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens, noting that the rescue of abducted persons, particularly the St. Mary’s schoolgirls, remains a top priority.
According to the DHQ, sustained efforts are being intensified to ensure the safe recovery of the remaining abducted children and their swift reunion with their families. It emphasized that operations are being carefully executed to guarantee the safety of the victims while tracking down and apprehending those responsible for the abductions.
The military high command also appealed to the public and the media to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information that could jeopardise ongoing rescue efforts. Instead, citizens were encouraged to share only credible intelligence that could assist security agencies in rescuing the captives and arresting the perpetrators.
The DHQ acknowledged the anguish of parents and loved ones of the abducted children, reaffirming its resolve to leave no stone unturned until all those held in captivity are safely returned home.
“The recovery of all abductees remains a priority, and efforts will continue relentlessly until every victim is reunited with their families,” the statement said.
