COAS Decorates Army Spokesperson Anele as Colonel, Highlights Public Trust in Military Operations

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has decorated the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, with the rank of Colonel, marking a significant milestone in her distinguished career with the Nigerian Army.


The decoration ceremony, held at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, was presided over by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, who represented the COAS.


Lieutenant General Shaibu commended Colonel Anele for her professionalism, dedication and consistency in projecting the Army’s activities with integrity. 


He urged the Directorate of Army Public Relations to continue promoting credible, transparent and timely communication, noting that public trust remains central to the success of military operations.


Additionally, he stressed that strategic communication is vital in strengthening national confidence in the Armed Forces. The COAS further encouraged the newly decorated Colonel to maintain the highest standards of discipline, leadership and mentorship in steering the Directorate to greater efficiency.


In her remarks, Colonel Anele expressed deep appreciation to God, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the COAS for their unwavering support and guidance, which she credited for her professional growth. She pledged to redouble her efforts in serving the Nigerian Army with renewed commitment.


The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including former Army spokesperson Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka (Rtd), Colonel Mustapha Anka (Rtd), as well as family members, colleagues, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the achievement.
