CDS Pays Courtesy Visit to Russian Minister of Defence

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Andrey Belousov, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Moscow.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the visit was part of activities commemorating Russia's 80th Victory Day, held in honour of Russian heroes who lost their lives during the Second World War. 

The CDS conveyed Nigeria’s solidarity with the Russian Federation on the historic occasion.

Additionally, General Musa reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening military cooperation with Russia.


He also used the opportunity to outline the operational requirements of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), where Russia’s support could prove beneficial.

The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, appreciated the gesture and expressed Russia’s readiness to provide the necessary military assistance in line with ongoing Military-Technical Cooperation agreements. 

He also highlighted the importance of upcoming engagements, including the meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group, as avenues for further collaboration between both countries’ armed forces.
