The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has held its 35th Convocation Ceremony, conferring degrees and awards on 2,618 graduates, including cadet officers and postgraduate students. The event took place on at the Academy’s permanent site in Afaka, Kaduna State.
The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, was the Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, was represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
In his welcome address, the Commandant of NDA, Major General A.K. Ibrahim, emphasized that all academic programmes of the Academy are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He noted that the institution’s focus on capacity building, discipline, and excellence has enabled its cadets to excel both locally and in international missions.
The ceremony featured the conferment of degrees, presentation of certificates and prizes, as well as the admission of postgraduate graduates into the NDA Alumni Association. Honorary degrees were also awarded to eminent Nigerians for their contributions to national development and humanity.
Graduands cut across multiple categories, including cadet officers, postgraduate diploma holders, master’s degree recipients, and doctoral candidates. Among the awardees, Cadet G.A. Olowokere emerged as the best graduating cadet in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, earning the prestigious Minister of Defence Award.
Other dignitaries at the occasion included the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Sunday Musa Attah, alongside senior military and academic officials.
